CPL Energy Brighthomes

CPL Retail Energy, a subsidary of Direct Energy, is helping its customers in Texas to participate in a pilot project that will test a demand-response and energy efficiency program, which includes a programmable thermostat that can receive and display messages through FM radio waves. During peak energy usage times, the thermostat can turn back air conditioning, which will help lessen energy demand during peak periods and help reduce the overall cost. The project will aim to reduce customers energy costs by as much as 50% without reduce the comfort levels in their homes.
