No, you will not need to take any action before the switch which occurs on May 3, 2012. Your service will not be interrupted and your balance, as well as any Deferred Payment Plans and switch holds you may have set up will transfer.
Once your service has been switched, you will receive a text or email from Direct Energy with your new account number, which you will need to use to pay into your new Direct Energy account. At this point, your First Choice Power Prepaid account will no longer be available.
Direct Energy Power-To-Go prepaid service operates in a very similar way to your current prepaid account, however you will have a new account number. You will continue to receive balance information via text or email as you do today.

Beginning May 3, your First Choice Power prepaid account will be switched to Direct Energy, you will receive the lower rate as soon as you become a Direct Energy Power-To-Go prepaid customer. You will have the same network of Fidelity Express walk-in payment locations, in addition to many other payment locations; however once you receive your Direct Energy account number you will need to begin paying into your new account, as your First Choice Power prepaid account will no longer be available. Until May 3, please continue to call First Choice Power for customer service at 1-877-768-2464. Once you become a Direct Energy customer, you will be provided a new phone number for customer service.

You will no longer be able to purchase First Choice Power prepaid electricity payment cards at local retail stores after April 7. If you have any cards that you have not redeemed or activated, you will need to do so before April 30, 2012. After that date, they will no longer be accepted.
